Retinal Persistence

This is a nice way to look at something we have seen all our lives but we never sat down and dissected this phenomenon. Retinal persistence is the the master of illusion in a way. It will let us look at several images shifting rapidly and will fill in the darkness of the images creating movement. Even if the images slow down, retinal persistence will still allow us to fill in the missing pictures. That is how movies have been developed, using this type of illusion. So you do now need to make the character move in every single picture. As long as the character moves, in the picture, in the same direction it is allowed to have gaps in the movement and the brain will created the full effect of movement.
